But, HR in today's world has evolved enormously. It is now at crossroads, as technology can now accomplish many of those traditional responsibilities faster, cheaper, and better than before.

HR technology has cleared the decks of the traditional work to make way for a more streamlined HR department. Human resources professionals are now better able to focus on front end and face-to-face tasks. Instead of shuffling through stacks of paperwork to find a single piece of critical information.

Many have started calling this recent period of technological shifts within the business ecosystem as the fourth industrial revolution.
Today, technologies like AI, automation, robotics, and digitization have redefined the existing parameters of operation which has made processes more data-driven and efficient. This shift has not only improved how a company delivers its products but also how it operates from within, an aspect to which the modern-day HR function is no exception.

The Recruitment Process of Modern World
Whether it is through social media or other online platforms, the recruitment process has been improved to a great extent with technological advancements. A larger talent database can be accessed through social media, which not only helps HRs to tap more recruits but also helps them to evaluate a candidate’s personality and behavioral aspects. Furthermore, social media also serve as a great platform for employer branding and enhances recruitment marketing.
It has also become easy to tap a large pool of potential candidates, shortlist candidates on basis of automated pre-employment screening tests, and schedule interviews. HRMS serves as a system to analyze the employee’s journey in the organization and a thorough unbiased assessment.

Integration with BI tool for Organizational Insights
The inclusion of digital feedback, analytics, and engagement tools improve employee productivity, whereas automated L&D and performance management system create a nurturing ecosystem.
The annual Deloitte Human Capital trends reports for 2015 and 2018 show increasingly integrated approach of organizations in deploying BI tools for people analytics and drawing insights for future plans. The modern BI and talent analytics solutions justify cost-effectiveness of HRMS. They enable HRs and management to take real-time business decisions in a fraction of time with the data sourced from the central database of an HRMS.
